Byrd Counseling Services

There will be three Information sessions on the Governor’s school and the application process.  Each session will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the following locations:

October 26, 2009                Short Pump Middle School

October 27, 2009                Wilder Middle School

October 28, 2009                Rolfe Middle School

Students and Parents may select any session to attend.  Judy Williams, Educational Specialist with Henrico County Public Schools, as well as staff members from Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies, will present information.

If you are interested in applying to the Middle Years IB Program, applications are available beginning October 7, 2009, from Mrs. Rice in the School Counseling Department.  Completed applications are due to her by Monday, November 16, 2009.

Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) searches, identifies, assesses, and recognizes students with exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities throughout the United States.   Students in grades two through eight can participate in the Talent Search by scoring at the 95th percentile or higher on nationally normed, standardized tests, or at the top levels on state tests.
